In cooperation with the foundation “Buntstiftung München“, a schoolyard and playground are to be conceived, planned and built by students of the International Montessori School in Munich. Due to the extremely cramped conditions of the school, which is located in the city center, only a part of a parking deck will be available at the beginning.
The project is financed by the foundation “Buntstiftung München”. The organization and implementation of the preparatory activities and workshops are to be carried out by a project group from the Montessori school together with members of our charity
The aim is to encourage a process of “learning by doing” — according to John Dewey’s ideas on project instruction — by jointly planning and building elements of the outdoor architecture. This includes stairways, benches, raised beds and trellises.

Later they will be moved to the new school building and will then be installed on the roof that is conceived as the future open area.

Parallel to this project, a Partner Project will be developed in a developing country. The reason behind this approach is that many students of the Montessori school are refugees or come from a migrant background.
A possible idea is that parallel to the project in Munich, students in Bangladesh (see above) will plan and construct school furniture and playthings for a school boat.
