In the meantime, the partner project in Ethiopia could be completed in the form of a solar power island system with 2.5 kWp for the Nicolas Robinson School in Mekele. For this purpose, 10 PV modules were installed on one of the school’s roofs and supplemented with a battery system plus inverter. The work was responsibly carried out by our partner NGO Rainbows4Children.

In view of the civil war situation there, this was a logistical challenge. The supply situation in Tigray is precarious. Many refugees have moved from the rural areas to the provincial capital of Mekele, and they now need additional supplies.

Because the public power grid has also been destroyed, the facility is used to operate computers, beamers and printers, lighting and pumps for the drinking water supply and to charge cell phones and solar lamps.
